Interestingly enough the concept of the business card has been around for Centuries in one form or another; as early as the 16th Century in Europe and the 15th Century in China.
In very early days (before the telephone), the “calling” or “visiting” card was absolutely essential in polite society. When paying a visit to someone, even a close friend, the visitor was required to provide a printed card with their name. People would collect these cards as a way of keeping track of friends who visited, so they would know to whom they were socially required to pay a return visit.
It was also a way of screening out unwanted visitors — once presented with a card, the host could simply refuse to admit the person, without having to deal with them face-to-face.
Funnily enough, when the telephone was first introduced, there was an uproar because now anyone could talk to you without providing a card… Just imagine how smart phones would have been received!
These days, business cards are used not only as a way of leaving an easily accessible set of contact information, but as a powerful business marketing tool. So what does your card say about you?

Wow, this is it, the very first unsupervised blog entry… Here goes!
What a year 2010 was, it was a roller coaster ride of happy moments, highs, lows and all things in between, but we survived! Thank you to everyone (clients and suppliers) who helped make 2010 such a big year for Tinker Creative, 2011 is shaping up to be a cracker! Special mention goes to Robbie and Anna – you know who you are! I’m sure there have been moments where you have thrown your hands in the air and looked to the sky asking ‘why?” during the past 6 months, but if there were awards for ‘most patient supplier 2010′, you guys would win gold hands down!!
